A new project on the hook

Thread this time. I'm taking a rest from the ripple, it's almost done for the most part.

This is what I've begun last night, it is going very quickly. I want to design my own, and wanted to see how a completed one should look.

I really like the look of the snoods. They have a long history. It is a flattering and lovely way to keep hair tidy and out of the way. I have fairly long hair now, and it is usually in braids or I have it up in some way. I don't like hair hanging about loosely. Maybe it will catch on again. I've not ever seen anybody around where I live with one...I suppose there are places like Amish for example, they where their hair up and have a covering, not as extreme as this.Usually a cloth.

I'm from a time zone where as young girls we took care of our hair, it was brushed, and pampered, we put it up, or wore it down with some type of a style to it. Long time ago now. So this is right up my alley, it may not be for everybody. They wear these at historical fairs where they re create in period costumes, something which I would have loved to do had I known.

Well, anyway....have a great week!

  1. That's going to be beautiful. Can't wait to see what you come up with. I've made a few slouchy hats, but I've not tried anything like this. Perhaps I should...

  2. Thank you, it's all done now, except for the elastic..I havn't tried it on yet. I'm not sure about that edge with the elastic. I've got to get back to it, and get it on the finished list.

  3. I've always thought these were so pretty. Yes, they are from long ago. I also have long hair, Faith, and these days I swoop it up and put it in a barrette. I know what you mean about long hair loosely falling in the face, it can be annoying.

    Happy month of May.

  4. I do not like having hair hanging in my face at all. It is annoying. I wear my hair up almost all the time. It's always pulled back in some fashion off my face when it is down.So I'm hoping this will be a nice way to wear my hair. Sometimes my scalp gets sore from wearing up it, and I like to rest it. This may be the answer.

  5. You are really making that! I am so impressed. I would end up with a tangled knot (in my hair)! I too like snoods - have never tried to wear one as I have a lot of hair, but love the look.

  6. I'm giving it the old college try. It is done, but I'm trying to figure out the elastic part around the front, I have elastic thread on hand. I may try something else. Thank you for stopping by.
